Resolution passed by the Executive Council of
the Rutgers Council of AAUP Chapters, AAUP-AFT on November 16, 2005:
Whereas the current budget reconciliation bill calls for $54 billion in cuts to
services for the poor and middle class, including $14.3 billion in student aid
cuts, and
Whereas the House of Representatives has postponed the vote on the bill twice
due to pressure from outside groups, and
Whereas students at Rutgers will be affected by these cuts,
Be it resolved that the Rutgers Council of AAUP Chapters, AAUP-AFT is opposed
to any cuts to student aid.
And be it further resolved that Rutgers Council of AAUP Chapters, AAUP-AFT is in
support of all student efforts in the college governing associations and on campus
to fight against these cuts.
