Resolution passed by the Executive Council of AAUP-AFT Chapters in support of
the NYU graduate student union on September 21, 2005:
Whereas collective bargaining is a well-established right of higher education
employees, and whereas New York University graduate student employees have a
certified and previously recognized bargaining unit,
Be it resolved that Rutgers Council of AAUP Chapters, AAUP-AFT condemns the NYU
administration's unilateral reversal of recognition of the NYU graduate student
employees' union in August 2005, and the Rutgers AAUP-AFT urges the NYU
administration to reconsider, to return to negotiations with the union, and to
engage in good faith bargaining.
