The Rutgers Council of the American Association of University Professors commends Governor James E. McGreevey for signing the "Millionaire’s Tax" into law today and applauds the Fairness Alliance for its dedication to tax fairness. The bill enables working families to better afford a college education at one of the many outstanding colleges and universities in New Jersey by immediately providing increased property tax relief. New Jersey currently ranks number one in the nation in exporting its high school seniors out of state for their college education.

"This is a step in the right direction. It provides direct support for working and middle-class families and helps them in their pursuit of a quality education for their children. I sincerely hope that the next step includes more comprehensive solutions to the funding crisis that faces higher education today," said AAUP President Rudy Bell.
